Arkansas ends winning streak

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

mssports.jpg

The Mississippi State Bulldogs mens basketball team fell a little short, ending their winning streak. Arkansas wins 78-58.

MSU had started off this season with their best start in SEC play since the 1993-1994 season. A win tonight also would have been Coach Rick Stansbury’s 200th career victory.

State returns home to host seventh-ranked Tennessee (18-2, 5-1) on Saturday in a matchup of divisional leaders in the SEC. Hopefully State can return to their winning ways and give Stansbury his 200th win back in Starkville. Tipoff for the event is set for 6 p.m. at Humphrey Coliseum and the clash will be televised by FSN/SUN.

That’s my junior picture from the MSU yearbook.

I’m so excited to be the new blogger for Msstate-college. I’m Lynn and am a 1993 graduate of Mississippi State. I still try to follow closely what is going at Mississippi State and Starkville, aka Starkpatch or God’s country. We just came off one of our best football seasons in a few years ending with a bowl win! Sylvester Croom is such a great asset to the football department. That’s why I was excited to learn that his contract has been extended to 2011.
I have to admit that I’ve never followed MSU basketball that closely. In fact I only attended one game while at MSU. It was enjoyable but basketball is always more exciting when something is at stake like the Final Four or another big game. So, give me a few days to get catch up on basketball news and then I will try to post the latest sports news.

I plan not to only talk about Mississippi State sports. There is a lot that goes on at MSU throughout the year, and I will do my best to keep everyone informed.
